Peter and Annette Quattroville, and their sons John, Sal and Dominic are the force behind Fourth Village Providore and Danks Street Produce Merchants. The thirty year food history of this generation of the family began when Peter joined his father John and mother Antoinette in opening a delicatessen in Balgowlah Heights in 1975. Peter remembers of those days the first take-home food and sauces came from his mother Antoinette’s home kitchen.
The family farm
To build on their offer at the Balgowlah store, Peter and his wife Annette bought a farm in the Hunter Valley at Pokolbin in 1997. There, they produce table olives, olive oil and wine which are now sold at both the Providore and the Merchants. The wine is on the list at Mezzanino, and at harvest time, olive oil will be pressed at Danks Street.
Fourth Village Providore Mosman
In 2008, the family, now with sons John, Sal and Dominic, opened Fourth Village Providore in Mosman, a store unlike any that had been seen in Mosman – and very few in Sydney. It housed a deli, a café, a cheese room, a grocer selling produce sourced daily (by the family) from Flemington Market, and a kitchen to produce the Fourth Village branded take-home meals, sauces and preserves. To the present day, it thrives.

Danks Street Produce Merchants
When the Quattrovilles found the Danks Street site, they knew this was the place for them to progress to the next level. There was room for an expanded production kitchen, all the Fourth Village products, produce and take-home meals. And plenty left over for merchants who share their values, plus a café on the ground floor one of Sydney's most attractive event spaces upstairs.

the only market restaurant in the real sense of the word in Sydney. Enjoy seasonal dishes with produce sourced directly from the market, for breakfast and lunch seven days a week with the bustle of the market around you.

On Level 1, the flexible Events space can be open or intimate, depending on your needs. Fully licensed, with a well-stocked bar, a wood-fired oven, a large and well-appointed kitchen where our chefs can prepare and serve fine Italian dishes for you and your guests.
